How to learn coding: a simple path

You don’t need a degree or expensive courses. Follow these steps in order and build something small at every stage.

0 of 6 steps done
  1. Pick one language

Start with Python or JavaScript. Stay with it for three months before trying another.

  2. Learn the basics

Variables, conditions, loops and functions. Type every example yourself instead of copying.

  3. Build tiny projects

A to-do list, a calculator, a quiz. Small projects teach more than long videos.

  4. Learn Git and GitHub

Save your work, publish it, and start building a public portfolio.

  5. Read other people’s code

Open-source projects show you how real software is organised.

  6. Build one bigger project

Choose something you would use yourself. Finish it, share it, then improve it.
